Jane Howard

Jane studied at the University of Tasmania, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art Teacher Education. Since graduating she has worked in various schools as a Visual Arts teacher and in Curriculum as a Senior Project Officer in Visual Arts and Media Arts.

A familiar face on Tasmanian film sets, Jane has worked on a number of productions, including The Kettering Incident, The Nightingale, Rosehaven and The Gloaming as well as many short films and other screen projects.

In 2015 Jane was selected to participate in the inaugural Raw Materials mentoring program through Wide Angle Tasmania, which led to her writing and directing The Good Room as part of the 2016 Red Flag initiative. The film gained official selection for screening at the Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival in 2016.

Jane brings a unique perspective to the judging panel of the MyState Student Film Festival, combining her education background with “real-life” involvement in the production of media content from script to screen.
